The summer reading program runs June 7th through July 30th, 2010.

Make a Splash! Read! It’s easy & fun! Sign up in the Virginia Public Library’s Children’s Room, set your goals & read throughout the summer. Programs for preschoolers through teens. Read with Chia! Our favorite reading dog, Chia, will be back this summer to read with you on Friday mornings.  Book a date with Chia in the Children’s Room.  Also read books in July to win free food, free admission, & a free ride at the St. Louis County Fair. Enjoy the performance of this children’s play: “The Mysterious Case of the Missing Ring,” written by Janie Downey Maxwell, directed by Kristi Sutton Ongalo. Performances on Saturday, March 27 at 1 and 3 pm, Sunday, March 28 at 1 pm only.

Admission: Children, students, senior citizens $3, adults $5.

9:00 - 11:30 a.m. Families will enjoy fun snacks, story times, open gym activities, crafts and more!  This is event is free and open to the public.  Space is limited.  Pre-register now by calling the YMCA at 749-8020.

Come join the fun and learn a few folk dances with Terrence Smith, a MN Roster Artists for over 20 years. Terrence will be in our communities during November and December 2009.  His program will include a little history of the dances.  Everyone is invited to participate! Free!  This program is sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System and the Virginia Public Library and is co-sponsored by ECFE & School Readiness of Virginia School District.  This project is funded with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota arts and cultural heritage.

The YMCA invites area “walkers” and their families to come in costume and have some Halloween fun!  Families will enjoy Halloween-themed activities including games, craft projects, story time, & more!
