Help Minnesota achieve 80% voter turnout this election in a NONPARTISAN way.
Saturday, November 1, 2008, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Would you like to play a part in Minnesota achieving 80% voter turnout this election in a NONPARTISAN way?
We will be calling families with children, and reminding them to cast their vote on November 4th, answering basic questions, and making sure they have a ride to the polls.
You can sign up for a 2 hour block of time and join us at Ready 4K on Sat., Nov. 1st. Or, if you live outside the metro area or would like to make calls from the comfort of your own home, you can help too! If you have a cell phone (with unlimited weekend minutes) you can make calls from a list provided to you. Let us know if you are interested in this option.

Early Childhood Education Pays Off
A report released in September reinforces the importance of early childhood education.
In “Preschool Education and Its Lasting Effects,” W. Steven Barnett of the National Institute for Early Education Research at Rutgers University argues that pre-kindergarten education helps children become better students and more well-adjusted adults.
It’s an argument that resonates with Minnesota teachers and policy makers. The gold standard for early education research was produced in 2003 by Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank economists Art Rolnick and Rob Grunewald who found that early education can yield as much as a 16 percent annual return to taxpayers in lower special-education costs, less criminality and social services, and more taxpayers.
